If you just started a brand new blog, this is one question that may haunt you quite often.
I know, I went through the dilemma number of times when I just started my other blog.
I wasn’t sure if I should start showing ads right away to my very new readers.
What if they get annoyed, run away and never come back.
But I decided to take the plunge after about an year or so after I started the blog.
I did not have a huge following at that point but I was pleasantly surprised to see that my readers were not really annoyed.
My ads, very strategically placed, were not intimidating to my readers at all. I did not have those frequent pop ups asking them to buy something or the other.
They were just placed in the sidebar or as text links in my posts.
What About The “Audience First, Then Monetizing” Advice
If you read about many veteran bloggers, you will see a pattern. They all started their blogs as hobby blogs at first. Their journey as a blogger started as a daily journal of sorts.
Slowly, as they built their audience, they found out about various methods of making money from their blogs.
He has been doing so well since then and has a huge following.
When I started my first blog, I started it as a journal to write about my newborn’s milestones, activities, his firsts and share his pictures with my friends and family around the globe.
I started monetizing it after a period of 12 months after starting it. It has been doing great since then.
There are many other bloggers who started the same way. They start as a hobby blog, and then it evolves as money making business, but after you gain a huge audience.
For this reason, it has become a norm to suggest new bloggers to wait, build up an audience and then start monetizing.

It’s okay to start monetizing your new blog from the very beginning. I’d rather start showing ads on my blog once I have significant content on my blog, but not wait for significant number of audience.
Reason being, my readers would expect to see ads on my blog from the very beginning, rather than them starting to see all these banner ads and text links all of a sudden.

1. It’s okay to monetize your blog from day 1 or very beginning of your blogging journey.
