5 Simple Ways to Make Money with InstagramI can’t believe the speed that it takes for one app, social media network or gadget to take over the other.

Few years ago, there was no concept of photo sharing network. But we have come a long way since then.

Instagram has gained tremendous popularity among, teens, adults, celebrities and well almost everyone.

According to eMarketer, 89.4 million americans will logon to Instagram at least once a month, and by 2017, whopping 51.8% of social network users will use Instagram, surpassing 50% mark for the first time.

With the launch of paid ads program, Instagram has become a haven for advertisers.

When you browse through your account, you will see “Sponsored Ads” in your feed from time to time.

That means, advertisers are ready to pay to the influencers on this popular photo sharing platform.

So what does that mean to you? You get to cash in on this growing popularity and recently launched features.

How? Let’s look at these 5 simple ways to make money on Instagram.

1. Build a Strong Following

Do you have strong followers base? This is the first thing that brands want to know. When you have a strong and loyal fans, you can start with a strong relationship with these brands. There are a few simple ways you can increase your fan following.

Like, comment and follow accounts that are in the niche similar to yours.

Post photos that reflect the theme of your blog or website. For example, if you are a food blogger, post delicious photos of your recipes. Click some while you are making that delicious pie and ask a question.

When posting a picture, use relevant hashtags. This is a great way to build a community.

When you create a hashtag and ask people to use it as well. Once it starts getting popular, repost (or regram) images from your followers.

This way not only your followers will feel appreciated, you get to post regular content on your account too.

2. Link Each Image to Your Blog or Product Store

Whenever you post an image of a product or service, post link to your blog or advertising website. You want to make it convenient for people to buy something if they like it.

If they have to look up the information for themselves, they may want to buy from somewhere else. When you post or tag a product or blog link, you are making your potential customer’s buying experience more pleasing.

Instagram does not automatically create a link for your product. Your readers will need to copy paste in the browser, but it’s still convenient for them. You can shorten the url using free services like Bit.ly or Tinyurl so it doesn’t take up the whole caption.

3. Sell Your Photos

There are many places you can advertise and sell your photos. If you are an expert photographer, you can use this photo sharing platform to make money by advertising and selling your high quality pictures.

Of course, you should have a strong following in order for brands and agencies to find you.

Although smartphone cameras are mostly used for taking pictures, make sure to invest in a high quality camera. I have a Nikon D3300 that I got from Amazon at a bargain deal. Upload to your smartphone and share.

To showcase your skills, add a copyright with your brand name. Maybe add some details on the camera resolution and image quality. Popular sites where you can put your images up for sale are twenty20 and Foap.

4. Sponsored Posts or Earn Commissions

If you are a blogger, you are already aware of the concept of sponsored posts. Right?

For Instagram, it can be a photo or video of that particular brand that want you to create a sponsored piece to share with your followers. Again, only requirement would be the number of strong and loyal fans you have.

When you create a sponsored piece, you post an image combined with either hashtag (#) or mention (@) the brand. You may also be required to use #ad hashtag to identify that this is a piece for a particular brand.

There are many ways you can get sponsors for your account. Networks like Tapinfluence and iFluenz are the popular ones where you can get opportunities for sponsored contents. You should have 5000 or more followers in order to become a member of iFluenz.

5. Engage Your Fans

As they say, if you need something, just ask! On the same lines, if you need your followers to do something for you, just ask. Ask them to like your picture if they really like it.

Ask the to tag a friend. Ask your customers to share their photo where they are using your products.

Say, you sell scarves for your own store or for a brand. Get your customers to share an image wearing that scarf, and regram that picture in your account, while tagging them.

There is an app called Repost for Instagram that allows you to repost images into your account from another Instagram user’s profile while giving them the credit.

Make it even better. Create a unique hashtag and promote it to your customers. Now whenever you see a customer using your hashtag simply regram their photo to your Instagram account.

Your customers will have an incentive to use your hashtag as much as possible.

Instagram can be much more than just a social networking app. It can be an awesome money making platform that you already use for keeping up to date with your friends and family.

So if you have an Instagram account in a good standing, why not cash in on it!
