Hi There, second half of December just started. How’s your holiday season going? It’s been pretty busy for me. Besides prepping for hosting home and work parties, I am in the process of planning for the year ahead as well.
One of my goals for 2017 is to focus on my financial and fitness goals. I have set up my monthly planner and expense tracker pretty frequently. My 12 week fitness planner is also something I plan on using frequently.
I am also doing 52 Week Money Saving Challenge 2017. I did one last year and loved it.
My goal for each week is going to be an increment of $5, so by the end of 2017, I will be saving appr. $6800. Sounds reasonable enough, right?
I had set my goal to $10 per week last year, but I got lot of feedback that the number was too big, and may not be doable, especially around the holidays when the amounts get even bigger. So this year I decided to do the increments of $5.
Prefilled 52 Week Money Challenge Printable
Here’s my printable where I have written down the numbers with increments of $5 for each week. The printable for this incremental amount comes prefilled with the amount that needs to be saved.
Amount you want to use for every week is totally up to you. You can start from $1 or even go up to $50. You should be fairly comfortable with the amount you want to use, because the way this system works is, you are going to have huge amount that needs to be saved towards the end of the year.
That time also happens to be around December and Christmas. That time is when most of us find ourselves on tight budget. So to make most of this system, if you want you can reverse the chart and start your year from the amount you are supposed to save at the end of the year.
So, for instance, taking my spreadsheet above, you will be putting your first amount in your savings account is going to be $260, next week will be $255 and so on. You can also pick any amount from other weeks, save that much in your account and mark that week as done. Simple!
Unfilled 52 Week Money Challenge Printable
Here’s another document that I created where you can fill the amount you are comfortable with. This printable comes with prefilled dates and that’s it. Just add up the amount you will be saving and fill the spreadsheet.
I have seen many readers starting with $1, incrementing with $1 each week. That way you save $1 for week 1; $2 for week 2; $14 for week 14 and so on. That way they can save up to $1378.

Similarly, if you want to do $2, adding $2 each week, you will end up saving $2756 by the end of 2017. There are so many different amounts you can save by just adding a few bucks each week. Just go with the amount you are most comfortable with.

If you are planning to do $10, adding $10 each week, you will end up saving $13780 by the end of 2017. This kind of amount requires huge commitment from you, but still doable. I did it last year, and was able to complete it, but it got really close to where I thought I may not be able to meet the challenge. Make sure to go with the amount you are most comfortable with.
If you are doing $10 amounts for each week, feel free to download this FREE printable:
Remember, the amount doesn’t matter. It’s just the matter of keeping yourself disciplined and saving a few bucks every week. It may even mean you are not going to dine out that week, or no fashion shopping or cutting out on some other expense.
